A pallbearer for a funeral is a person selected to carry or escort the casket during the funeral service. Pallbearers are typically chosen from close family members or friends and are expected to physically carry the casket to its resting place, whether at the church or cemetery. They should arrive on time, dress appropriately, and be prepared for the responsibility. Depending on the size of the casket, there may be six or eight pallbearers. It is important for pallbearers to coordinate with one another to ensure the casket is handled with care and dignity throughout the ceremony.
